Prominent Nigerians are mourning the death of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu which occurred on Saturday, November 13.

A former Nigerian Senate president, Bukola Saraki, on Saturday sympathised with the bereaved families of the deceased personnel.

Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum commiserated with the Nigerian army over the loss of the military officers

He commended the Nigerian military for putting up a strong resilience in a battle with fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) who launched attacks on a military base.

In a statement by his spokesman, Malam Isa Gusau, the governor thanked the fallen heroes for what he called “their supreme sacrifices to the Nigerian Nation”.

According to him, the people of Borno will remain forever grateful to them and all fallen heroes.

Zulum said as quoted in the statement:

"The people of Borno will remain forever grateful to them and all fallen heroes, and will remain fully supported of gallant troops currently operating in front lines.”

Brigadier General gunned down as ISWAP terrorists ambush soldiers in Borno

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that an unnamed Brigadier-General was shot dead in an ambush by fighters of ISWAP in Borno state.

The report further stated four other soldiers were allegedly killed in the incident which occurred at Bulguma, few kilometers from Askira town in Askira Uba local government area.

It was gathered that troops of 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, had mobilised to provide reinforcement in Askira, which was under attack.
