Good News as Passport Office Introduces Saturday, Sunday Services

Lagos - The Ikeja passport office of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Lagos state has begun operations on weekends.
The Nation citing the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) noted that Rose Bukar, the new passport control officer made this known in Lagos on Saturday, November 13.
It was gathered that the opening of the passport office on Saturdays and Sundays is to speed-up service delivery to applicants.
Bukar went on to note that measure would be initiated to enhance smooth and fast service to Nigerians, The Sun added.

Passport production hits over 38,000 in four months in Lagos
Legit.ng previously reported that the Ikoyi passport office of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Lagos state has produced 38, 280 international passports from the month of June through October 2021.
The Passport Control Officer (PCO) of the office, Ibrahim Liman, who is a deputy controller of immigration, made the disclosure in Lagos on Monday, October 18.
According to the PCO, 29,984 of 32-page passports and 8,246 of 64-page passports were produced in the period under review.

Meanwhile, Isa Jere Idris, the Acting Comptroller-General of NIS has caught some officers of the service red handed.
Idris who disguised as an applicant for an international passport at the Lagos State Command, caught them when they offered to help him procure the passports in a shady way.
He said his unscheduled visit to Ikoyi was to confirm the allegations against officers of the immigration offices in Lagos State including Ikoyi, Ikeja and FESTAC town.
