Tragedy as Bandits Run Riot in Zamfara, Kill Village Head, 8 Others

Tungar Ruwa - Armed bandits have carried an attack that lasted for several hours in Tungar Ruwa in of Zamfara state, killing 9 people including a village head.
Premium Times reported that the tragic incident took place on Wednesday, November 10, in Anka local government area.
The police spokesperson in the state, Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the attack but was silent on the details.
Accordint to Anas Mustapha, the gunmen were said to have stormed the village with motorcycles and started shooting into the air as they rode towards the village head’s residence, Daily Independent added.

Mustapha speaking to the newspaper said the bandits killed him in the presence of some of his people that were also gathered by the bandits.
He said:
“Eight other people were confirmed dead when the bandits left after the attack. But our understanding is that they (bandits) came for the village head. You know when they feel a particular leader in a community is giving them troubles, they do kill him instantly.”
He said the bandits did not kidnap anyone, however, they stole foodstuff and domestic animals in the village.
Deaths, terror as gunmen unleash house-to-house raid in northern state
Legit.ng earlier reported that a series of deadly attacks led to the death of persons and destruction of properties launched by some gunmen on the Batsari local government area of Katsina.
The house-to-house raid on at least five communities in the area started in the evening of Tuesday, November 9, and stretched till the early hours of Wednesday, November 10.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that many houses, public assets, including vehicles, were torched in the attack.
A lawmaker representing Batsari in the state's House of Assembly, Hon. Jabir Yauyau, confirmed the threatening development but admitted that he does not have details of what transpired due to lack of telecommunication network in the area.
