Enyenihi, 25, was said to have tried to extort money from Salem's family after his disappearance on October 13.

The report said that Enyenihi had sent a text message to Salem's wife with a concealed number demanding N100 million as a ransom for his release.

The text message reads:

“If you don’t pay, Tordue will be killed in seven days. For more information, call this number.”

However, during his interrogation, Enyenihi claimed that he got Salem's wife's number from a flyer that was used to declare the reporter missing.

He denied having any involvement in the disappearance or death of Tordue Salem.
