Big Blow for PDP as Over 3,000 Women Dump Opposition, Join APC
- Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost at leaset 3,000 members to the ruling APC
- The decampees said their defection was informed by the governor’s administration’s women inclusiveness in governance

No fewer than 3000 women in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state, Nigerian Tribune reports
The decampees, who were mainly from the Ibagun ward in the Ilorin East local government area, on Wednesday, November 10, in the state, pledged their continued support for the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
AbdulRazaq’s administration’s women inclusiveness in governance was cited as the reason for their defection.
The new members were received by the special adviser on political, Alhaji Abdullateef Alakawa and APC chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, represented by the state secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Ishowo, The Sun added.

Alhaja Balikis Abdulrauf and Fatima Tajudeen speaking on behalf of the decampees, said that the governor’s priority attention to women motivated them into joining the APC.
The duo stressed about the various women empowerment programmes which the governor had implemented in the last two years.
Abdulrauf and Fatima added that Kwara boasts of the highest number of women as cabinet members in the country.
Another House of Reps member dumps PDP for APC, gives reason
Legit.ng previously reported Jacob Ajao Adejumo, a member of the House of Representatives from Oyo state, defected to APC.
The speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, read his defection letter to members on the floor in Abuja on Tuesday, November 9, during the plenary.
In a brief statement on its official Facebook page, the Green Chamber said the APC caucus of the has gained another member.

Meanwhile, Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo state, denied plans to dump the opposition PDP for the ruling APC.
The governor who appeared as a guest on Channels TV on Thursday, October 21, said he has no intention to contest for the office of the president or vice president in the coming 2023 general elections.
Governor Makinde also noted that since Nigeria's return to democracy in 1999, all the presidents the nation had emerged "were called".
