Breaking: Panic in Southeast State as Gunmen Kill 3, Set Bikes on Fire

  • Again, Imo state witnessed another huge security breach on Friday night, November 5, as "unknown gunmen" killed three
  • The fleeing gunmen also injured many people and set fire on no fewer than 10 motorcycles in Umulogho and Isinweke communities
  • However, the ugly development in the southeastern state has not been confirmed by the Imo state police command

Imo state - There was panic in Umulogho and Isinweke communities in Obowo and Ihitte/Uboma local government areas of Imo state on Friday night, November 5, after fleeing gunmen ran beserk, killing no fewer than three persons.

The rampaging gunmen who operated in about three vehicles also burnt no fewer than 10 motorcycles and injured undisclosed number of persons, The Punch reported.

At Umulogho, the gunmen whose mission had yet to be identified as of press time, killed three persons specifically at Nwokeisiama junction.

The gunmen also shot indiscriminately before fleeing the town.

When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, CSP Michael Abattam said that the command was yet to get a report on the incident, The Nation also reported.

Fear engulfs Imo community as hoodlums gun down resident

In a related development, a young man was recently gunned down by some hoodlums in Abba, Nwangele local government area of Imo state.

Thhe man identified as Fidelis Nnadi was killed by the unidentified hoodlums along Okwelle-Umuezealaibe road in Imo state on Wednesday, October 27.

Various attacks on communities in the state in the past have always left residents living on the edge. Also recently, Police stations in Imo state have also had their own fair share of attacks with several officers caught in the line of fire.

Police station attacked

In another report, gunmen operating in Umuelemai, Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo state attacked a Police station in the area.

The gunmen were said to have destroyed vital things in the facility and freed some suspects who were detained at the Police station.

Also, the gunmen successfully set the Police state ablaze forcing several officers on duty to flee from the station.
