Breaking: Tension as Thugs Attack Former Governor, Prevent Him from Entering Northern State

Gombe state - Suspected thugs have reportedly attacked Danjuma Goje, a former governor and current senator representing Gombe central.
The Cable reported that the senator’s vehicle was allegedly hit with dangerous weapons on Friday morning, November 5, while he was making his way into the state capital.
The development was confirmed in a statement released by the senator's aide, Lilian Nworie.
Nworie said Senator Goje who is in Gombe for a personal engagement was prevented from getting into the city after the hoodlums set bonfires.

He explained that the incident occurred around the International Conference Centre located on Bauchi-Gombe road.
Thugs loyal to Gombe governor, Goje's aide alleges
Meanwhile, Nworie alleged that the thugs are loyal to Inuwa Yahaya, the current governor of Gombe state.
He further alleged that police officers stationed in the area did not make any effort to stop the chaos.
It was gathered that Governor Yahaya and Senator Goje are allegedly at loggerheads over political issues.
The governor, however, in September said he did not have a quarrel with Senator Goje.
Vehicles smashed, burnt
Daily Trust reported that several vehicles were either smashed or burnt while scores sustained various degrees of injuries.
The report added that thousands of commuters were left stranded along the two axes, as no vehicle was allowed into or outside the state.

2023: Gombe state stakeholders endorse Senator Goje for Senate
In other news, key stakeholders in Gombe state political scene have rejected the decision of Senator Goje to retire from active politics in 2023.
Goje, a third-term senator had in December 2019 announced his decision to step aside for young politicians in the state to take over from him.
But the stakeholders while speaking during the unveiling of Goje’s legacy of service to the Gombe people in Kumo Township Stadium, Akko local government area, on Saturday, June 26, appealed to Goje to rescind his decision.
