FCT, Abuja - The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has rescued the four lecturers and their family members abducted by gunmen on Tuesday morning, November 2, from their University of Abuja staff quarters residence.
The Nation reported that the command also arrested their suspected abductors.

The newspaper explained that the development was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh.
Adeh was quoted to have said that the victims were rescued through a joint operation with other security agencies.

University reacts
Meanwhile, a statement sighted by Legit.ng on the University of Abuja's Facebook page also confirmed the development.
The statement attributed to the university's vice-chancellor, Abdul Rasheed Na'Allah, reads:
"My dear University Community,

I will provide you more details later, just to let you know that our UofA family is a happier family today with the resolution of this calous and wicked kidnap of our people. As I write, we are on the road to fetch them and get them immediate medical attention to ensure they are sound and strong！
"Our brilliant and indefatigable Safety Unit and security outfit must be commended. They are deserving of superior award！ We are grateful to the team along with the military, the police, the DSS and all who laboured to make this happen. Gunmen raid staff quarters of FCT school, kidnap vice principal in Abuja
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the vice principal of Junior Secondary School (JSS), Yebu in Kwali Area Council of Abuja, Mohammed Nuhu, was whisked to an unknown destination by some gunmen.
It was gathered that the assailants stormed the staff quarters of the school with sophisticated guns.
One of the teachers who spoke with newsmen said some of the criminals besieged the quarters, while others scaled the fence into Nuhu's apartment and kidnapped him.
