Anambra 2021: INEC Chairman Reveals Final Position on Whether Election Will Hold or Not

Awka, Anambra- The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has disclosed the final position of the commission on the conduct of the Anambra governorship election.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that On Tuesday, November 2, in Akwa, Yakubu reiterated the preparedness of INEC for the smooth conduct of the election that is scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 6.

Legit.ng gathered that Yakubu was in the state to assess the preparedness of the state office of the commission and to meet with various stakeholders on the forthcoming election.

He also had an interactive session with the leadership of the police, Department of State Service (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Immigration, The Guardian also reported.

Yakubu hinted further that he would also meet with the council of traditional rulers, election observers and other relevant stakeholders in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng, speaking on behalf of others, assured the INEC chairman of the readiness to hold the election.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on the people of Anambra to close ranks and take back the state in line with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) "rescue mission" for the country.

Okowa, who is deputy chairman of the PDP national campaign council for the Anambra governorship election, gave the charge on Tuesday, November 2 at the party's grand rally at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, attended by a Legit.ng reporter ahead of the poll on Saturday, November 6.

He said that the gubernatorial poll was special for the youths of Anambra and urged them to come out in their numbers to vote for PDP candidate, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.
