IPOB/ESN in Trouble As Gallant Troops Raid Their Hideout
- The hideout of members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) has been raided
- The raid was carried out by Troops of Joint Security Team at Mgbowo, Awgu local government area of Enugu state
- The Army also insisted that it did not burn any house or fire indiscriminately, asking the public to disregard any contrary information
Troops of Joint Security Team have raided a suspected Indigeneous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) hideout located in Mgbowo, Awgu local government area on November 1.
According to the Army in a statement made available on its Facebook page, during the night operation, two ring leaders of IPOB/ ESN were arrested.
It said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation with a security agency.
The Army said:
"It should be noted that, contrary to IPOB/ESN propaganda video, there was no incident of indiscriminate firing or unprovoked burning of houses during the raid. The joint operation in Agwu was conducted in the night and there was no destruction of any private property involved.

"The trending videos in circulation claiming to represent the aftermath of the night operation is not portraying the Agwu operation. It is meant to whip up sentiment and incite the public against the Army. Meanwhile, Investigation into the video is ongoing to ascertain when and where it was shot and those involved. Any personnel found culpable would be sanctioned accordingly. Updates will be communicated when investigation is completed.
"Members of the public are advised to disregard such propaganda materials intended to mislead the public. We shall continue to support other security agencies in line with our constitutional mandate in a professional manner. Any act of unprofessional conduct among our troops will not be tolerated."
Governor Hope Uzodimma Condemns Murder of Chike Akunyili
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Governor Hope Uzodimma has condemned the murder of Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of the former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Late Prof. Dora Akunyili.
The governor described the gruesome murder of the accomplished medical doctor as an act of wickedness.
He stated that the unfortunate incident should be an opportunity for security operatives in Anambra state and other southeast states to ensure the protection of lives and properties in the increasingly restive region.
Detainees escape, patrol van torched as gunmen attack Ebonyi police station
In another report, a deadly attack was launched by a gang of armed criminals on the police station in the Ohaukwu local government area in Ebonyi. The raid was carried out in the morning of Monday, October 18, by gunmen who succeeded in burning one of the patrol vans.
Not only that, the attackers also broke into the stations and freed some detained persons who are now at large. The incident has been confirmed by the police public relations officer in the state, Loveth Odah.
