UK-based Blogger Risks Jail Term for Defaming MFM General Overseer

  • Maureen Badejo, a UK-based blogger has been threatened with jail term if she fails to obey an existing court judgement against her
  • The Queens Bench Division of a UK high court of justice issued the warning following the libellous publications against Pastor Daniel Olukoya

A UK-based blogger, Maureen Badejo, risks going to jail if she fails to obey an existing judgement of the court against her for defaming the founder of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, Shade.

Maureen was warned in an order titled ‘Notice to the Defendant’, by the Queens Bench Division of a UK high court of justice, The Cable reports.

Maureen was given up till Thursday, November 4, to obey the court judgement or be found guilty of contempt and risk being sent to prison.

Back in October, ThisDay had reported that the court ordered the blogger to pay the sum of £65,000 to the MFM general overseer and £35,000 to his wife Olukoya as damages over defamatory publications.

As a corrective measure, she was also ordered to publish a summary of the judgment across her social media channels for a period of 10 consecutive days so that her audience got to know about the court’s decision.

Pastor Olukoya directs 7-days international 7-day prayers, fasting

In a previous report by Legit.ng, Olukoya called on all Christians and other men of faith across the globe to join in a seven-day prayer and fasting session against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Olukoya on Monday, April 27, 2020, urged all Christians to join hands and revolt against COVID-19, its systems and its repercussions.
