Just In: Tears as Nigeria Loses Influential PDP Ex-senator

  • Former Nigerian senator, Hosea Ehinlanwo, from Ondo South district, recently died in Abuja at age 83
  • The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ex-legislator was an ally of Chief Olu Akinfosile, the former minister of communications

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) former senator, Hosea Ehinlanwo, who represented Ondo South district has been reported dead at the age of 83.

According to a statement by his son, Soji, Ehinlanwo died at his home in Abuja after a brief illness, The Nation reports.

Ehinlanwo who served in the Senate between 2003 and 2011 was also an associate of the former minister of communications, late Chief Olu Akinfosile.

He was also known to have taught at the famous Lagos City College, Sabo, Lagos, and at the Department of Business Administration, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun.

The former senator was involved in the establishment of the then Ilaje Ese-odo Community Bank and was the executive chairman for a period.

Grief for Nigerian Senate as senator is reported dead

Meanwhile, former senator Abubakar Abdulazeez Ibrahim who was the younger brother of Hajiya Aisha Jummai Alhassan (Mama Taraba) passed on.

The 64-year-old man who died in his Jalingo residence on Tuesday, October 5, after a brief illness, represented the Taraba Central Senatorial Zone between 1999 and 2007.

Added to this, late Ibrahim contested twice for the governorship seat in the state.

He studied Engineering and Business Administration at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna state, and was the proprietor of Ibramiyya Primary and Secondary Schools and Peacock College of Education in Jalingo.

In line with the Islamic religion, funeral prayers for the deceased will be conducted at 1.30 pm at the palace of the Emir of Muri after which he will be buried at Jika da Fari burial ground, where the remains of his late sister were also laid to rest.

Also, a fourth Republic lawmaker, Senator Biyi Durojaye, was reported dead on Tuesday, August 24.

Durojaye died in the early hours of Tuesday in Lagos while receiving medical attention.
