A 26-year-old man has been arrested by Kano Hisbah Commission after he said he would sell himself out of poverty.
A viral picture of Aliyu Idris showed him carrying a sign in which he said he wanted to sell himself for N20 million.
Before he was taken into custody, Idris, a tailor, told reporters that he had financial difficulties.
“I decided to sell myself because of poverty,” he said. “N2 million for everyone who helped me find my buyer, I saved the rest for daily use.”

Hisbah said what Idris did was not Islamic.
“Yes, we arrested him on Tuesday and he spent the night in our custody because what he did was illegal in Islam,” Hisbah commander Haruna Ibn Sina told BBC Hausa.
“You have no right to sell yourself in any situation you find yourself in.”

In what will continue to annoy many Nigerians, Kano state Hisbah Board says it has confiscated two vehicles loaded with 5,760 cartons of assorted beer on Kano/Madobi road.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Lawan Ibrahim-Fagge, in Kano on Wednesday, September 8.
Going further, the board vowed to continue fighting against drug and other intoxicating substances among youths in the state, Sahara Reporters added.
Following the destruction, Nigerians on social media blasted Kano state for destroying beer and at the same time receiving tax money.
Hisbah locks up Kannywood actress for posting unIslamic content on social media
Legit.ng had reported that that the Kano state Hisbah board locked up Haruna, a Kannywood actress, for allegedly uploading sexual content on her social media handles.
The accused person was initially arrested on Friday, August 20 by the surveillance department of Hisbah.
She was then detained in the custody of the Islamic police until early Monday, August 23 when she was brought before the Sharia court sitting in Sharada area of Kano state.
