Anambra Poll: Another Massive Deployment as IGP Sends Joseph Egbunike, 100 DIGs, AIGs, CPs to Southeast State

Abuja- The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the deployment of 100 senior police officers, on Tuesday, October 26, to coordinate and direct security activities before, during and after the election in Anambra state.
This is even as the IGP reassured the nation that the Force is adequately prepared for the gubernatorial election come Saturday, November 6, 2021.
Leadership reports that a breakdown of the deployment showed that DIG Joseph Egbunike was deployed to Anambra as coordinating DIG election duties.

“DIG Egbunike is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of the Operation Order evolved from the Election Security Threat Assessment, to ensure a peaceful environment devoid of violence and conducive enough to guarantee that law abiding citizens freely perform their civic responsibilities without molestation or intimidation.
“DIG Egbunike will be assisted by the DIG in-charge of Operations, Acting DIG Zaki Ahmed.
“Other Strategic Commanders deployed to Anambra State include five Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), 14 Commissioners of Police, 31 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and 48 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).”
The police said the senior officers are to coordinate human and other operational deployments in the three senatorial districts, 21 local government areas and the 5,720 polling units in the state.
Meanwhile, the police have assured that the force would work with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all stakeholders to protect democratic values, provide level playing field for all political actors, ensure adequate protection of voters, INEC personnel and equipment, accredited observers and other key players in Anambra.
Earlier, the IGP ordered a major overhauling of the security landscape in the state, a report by Vanguard also indicate.
The overhauling includes the deployment of selected seasoned Strategic Commanders from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and above to the state.
INEC denies mass resignation of workers, others less than 2 weeks to Anambra election
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that a report by Daily Nigerian indicates that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) denied reports of its ad hoc staff recruited for the governorship election in Anambra resigning.
Dr Nwachukwu Orji, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in reaction said the commission has adequate manpower.
Orji in an interview on Tuesday, October 26, in Awka said there was no truth in the viral media report.
Andy Ubah Supporters Send Strong Message to Anambrians
In another report, the political supporters of Senator Andy Uba, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the forthcoming Anambra state governorship election has warned the people of the state against voting for the wrong candidate in the election.
The group under the aegis of Andy Uba Mandate Group (AUMG) in a statement sent to Legit.ng, on Friday, October 22, the group maintained that Uba has promised to rehabilitate and construct all the bad roads which litter the state and which were abandoned by Governor Willie Obiano.
The group said that that the only candidate among the aspiring candidates to lead the state, is the former lawmaker, noting that if Anambra people will vote him into office, they will not be disappointed.
