Nnamdi Kanu Appears in Versace as Nigerian Ex-Governor, British Envoy Arrive Court for IPOB Leader’s Trial

The embattled leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja for his trial in a white Versace outfit.
Nnamdi is to stand trial for a lot of charges bordering on terrorism and inciting national unrest.
Ahead of the trial, some dignitaries on Thursday, October 21, arrived at court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Among those who were seen around the premises of the court were a former governor of Anambra, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, and a British envoy, The Cable reports.

However, a publication by Vanguard said Ezeife was not allowed into the chamber to witness the trial.
The former governor claimed that he was left outside the chambers because security operatives insisted that he cannot go in with his people, The Nation also reported.
The United Kingdom (UK) representative was said to have arrived at the venue in a white Toyota Highlander.

Meanwhile, Kanu had been re-arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on treasonable felony and terrorism charges.
The court session commenced at 10am on Thursday, October 21. When the charges were read to him, the IPOB leader pleaded not guilty.
Ifeanyi Ubah asks court to grant him permission to visit Kanu
In another development, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah had sought an order of the court to grant him access to visit Kanu at the DSS headquarters.
Speaking to journalists in front of the court after filing the application, Ubah said he made the move in order to find a solution to the security crisis in the southeast region.
Ubah, 50, is the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
Southeast Traditional rulers demand release of IPOB leader
Similarly, traditional leaders in the southeast had demanded the release of Kanu by the federal government.
The royal fathers expressed worry over the escalation of crisis in the southeast with the attendant hardship on the people.
