BREAKING: Uneasy Calm in Ibadan as Protesters Shun #EndSARS Memorial Protest

Ibadan- A major centre announced for the #EndSARS memorial protest, Ojoo, and the main gate of the University of Ibadan, were deserted on Wednesday, October 20, morning by protesters.
The Nation reports that the two spots famous for protests, scores of armed and unarmed policemen were seen at strategic locations obviously to prevent the planned protest.
The protesters had listed Ojoo roundabout to mark the first anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.
But residents were seen going about their businesses peacefully at the time of filing this report.

Soldiers were also seen patrolling UI-Sango-Ojoo road.
Recall that activists in some parts of the country had earlier insisted on holding a memorial protest to mark the first year anniversary of the #EndSARS protests despite warnings by security agencies.
Flyers circulated on social media indicated that the organisers have perfected plans to hold the memorial protests in Lagos, Abuja, Abia, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Edo, Kwara, Enugu, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers and Oyo states, a report by Daily Trust also indicate.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the debate is still on regarding the planned October 20 #EndSARS memorial protests in Lagos.
It was reported that to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the #EndSARS protests, the Lagos state police command has begun a show of force, moving around with their van and trucks on Tuesday, October 19.
Meanwhile, the activists behind the planned protests have stated that they will be having a car procession in honour of those believed to have lost their lives during the #EndSARS protests of October 2020.
23 victims awarded N148.2m on last day as Lagos #EndSARS panel concludes sitting
In a related development, Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Lagos State Judicial Panel on restitution for victims of SARS-related abuses and other matters held its final sitting after 131 proceedings on Monday, October 18.
On the last day, 23 deserving petitioners were awarded N148.2 million, Channels TV cited the panel's chairman, Justice Doris Okuwobi, as stating.
