Gunmen Strike Again, Kill Worshipper During RCCG Church Service, Police Share Details

Ilorin, Kwara state - An Ilorin-based estate agent identified as Sina Babarinde has been killed by unknown gunmen.

Babarinde, a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was shot dead during a church service at the Living Word Parish, Basin Road, Ilorin, PM News reports.

Confirming the incident on Monday, October 18, the spokesperson of the Kwara state police command, Okasanmi Ajayi, said it happened during the 7am church service of the RCCG.

He said the deceased got a phone call and as he stepped out of the church to receive it, the sounds of gunshots rented the air. This drew the attention of the congregation and by the time they got out to see what was going on, they found the Babarinde in a pool of bllod

Ajayi added:

“It was discovered that he was shot on the head.”

Police begin investigation

The remains of the victim has been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) mortuary for postmortem, Premium Times reports.

The shells of the bullet used in killing the deceased have been recovered while a discreet investigation into the murder commences.

Security agencies are said to be working towards apprehending the perpetrators and making sure citizens are kept safe.

Unknown gunmen have been wreaking havoc across the country and one of its victims was Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband to the late former information minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili.

Chike was killed at Umuoji in Idemili North LGA of Anambra state on Tuesday, September 28.

His daughter, Chidiogo, disclosed that she conversed with her father a day before his life was cut short. According to her, they both spoke about the award he was going to receive on behalf of his late wife the next day.

Among other things they talked about, the man told his daughter how patients he attended to did not have enough to pay for their medical bills.

Chidiogo also shared throwback photos of the late father.
