According to TMZ, the event organiser, Live Nation, announced the unfortunate news, citing complex production issues as the primary reason for the show's cancellation.

The Utopia show was expected to be an extraordinary spectacle, with the celebrated.

Fans worldwide had eagerly anticipated witnessing this groundbreaking event.

Egyptians opposed Travis Scott's concert

The show was initially met with mixed reactions from the public and local authorities in Egypt. Just recently, Egypt's Musicians Syndicate expressed their concerns and disapproved of Scott's performance in the country.

They cited the type of concerts he puts on as being incongruent with the cultural identity of the Egyptian people.

As a result, the Musicians Syndicate reportedly canceled the show's permit, further fueling the controversy surrounding the event.

While Live Nation attributes the cancellation to complex production issues in the desert, the timing and the preceding backlash inevitably raise questions about whether external factors played a role in the decision-making process.

People killed at Travis Scott's concert

On Friday, November 5, 2021, the rapper's concert was tragic after several people died.

At least eight people died on the spot and several others were injured when the crowd surged toward the stage during Scott's performance in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

CNN reported that the deceased were squeezed with no means of escape at the sold-out event dubbed the Astroworld Festival.

The concert that attracted 50,000 fans saw the crowd at the back surge forwards, compressing the people at the front.

Footage from the concert showed the rapper and music producer pause his performance on seeing an ambulance moving through the densely packed crowd.

"The crowd, for whatever reason, began to push and surge towards the front of the stage, which caused the people in the front to be compressed. They could not escape that situation," Houston’s Fire Chief Sam Peña said.
