Speaking during a TikTok live on April 16, Wanggy Ivvah91, revealed she started growing facial hair when she was 13 years old, a condition known as hirsutism.

Hirsutism is a rare condition that causes excessive facial hair growth in cisgender females and is typically caused by an increase in hormones called androgens.

Wanggy said she faced stigma while growing up, and society referred to her as an outcast, among other things.

"I was told I was a cursed child and my mother is a witch. So, she was being punished through me growing facial hair. I was told I would never conceive and if I slept with or bore a child with a man, he would die. They said I have a red thigh," she said.

Wanggy, who is now happily married with children, said she is fighting the stigma against women with hirsutism condition and myths about the condition. According to her, they are capable of giving birth just like any other woman.

Why bearded Kenyan woman doesn't shave

The loving mother disclosed that she used to shave her hair to avoid being rejected by her men, thanking her husband for understanding her condition, hirsutism.

"I used to shave my beard because I had not accepted my condition. Most of my exes never knew I had a hirsutism condition. Most of them found out recently after I came out to talk about it," she said.

Asked about her man's reaction after discovering she had hirsutism, she said:

"He did not reject me, but he was shocked to see the hairs."

Wanggy encouraged women with facial hair, or rather a condition like hers, to love themselves.

"We are normal. Don't hate yourselves."
