Kenyan Actress Discloses She Uses Over N360k to Design Dresses for Events

  • Kate Actress disclosed she hired a N180K (KSh 50k) dress to attend a film premiere in South Africa she had been invited to
  • The Netflix film actress also revealed all the outfits she wears to events have always cost her more than N360k (KSh 100k) to bring to fruition

Veteran actress Kate Kamau has explained why she has maintained exhibiting a high fashion sense while attending Kenyan events.

Why Kate Actress stands out at events

In an interview with Mungai Eve, the former Mother-In-Law actress shared she sometimes misses events if she cannot find inspiration for an outfit.

She also said fans hardly know what celebrities have to do to ensure they look good for events and sometimes the preparations need money.

"I don't think there's a day we've spent less than KSh 100,000 (N360k). When you look at it like the whole event, from transport to the outfit to the fabrics, to the stylist, it's very expensive. And you can't keep doing it, that's why I don't go for all events coz I put in a lot," she said.

She also urged fans to stop bashing celebrities for what they wear because some do not have the money to slay and look memorable during the red-carpet events.

"Not every artiste is there yet. And you need these events for you to be seen. More support, less bashing and more positive criticism because you do not know what someone may be going through," she added.

She also disclosed she hired a dress for N180,000 (KSh 50,000) for a movie premiere she attended in South Africa.

According to Kate, while she cannot wear those dresses twice, her designer, Naomi, usually has sales where she takes the dresses for people who may be interested in buying and maybe alter them to their own liking.

The superhero film Black Panther featuring Kenyan-Mexican actress Lupita Nyong'o has been having premiers in cinemas in different countries, among them the US, Nigeria, Kenya and Mexico.

A-list celebrities in the country dressed up for the red carpet event looking super fine as they show up to drum support for people to go watch the event.

Here in Kenya, Kenyan celebrities have been facing sharp criticism for what most people termed a 'lack of effort' when dressing up for the event.
