Muma Gee says she won't treat her artiste like Mohbad
In an exclusive chat with Legit.ng, the singer disclosed she is set to empower Rivers State youths through her project, African Talent Pool.
Muma Gee revealed her plan to do right by any artiste she discovers to avoid another unfortunate case of the late singer, Mohbad.
The songwriter also said she would bring her experience as a lawyer and a creative to run her management
In her words:
"Many mistakes that led to Mohbad’s situation may not reoccur under me because I’m a law student and know what to do right. As a creative person, I know where to marry the law and creativity lawfully."
"I’ll say I’m a little bit above average as a creative person. I may not have practice management, but I have OND in it, and my first degree was in theatre arts. I owned a record label, and now that I’m studying law, I should be able to marry creativity with management and law in my record label. We’re seeing how to power the youngsters, give them the directional purpose of which way forward, and let them choose, as most of them are adults, to take precautions on where they could go wrong. My duty as someone exposed in that area is to ensure that I lead them right, so Mohbad’s situation may not apply to us because we will do things right."
Muma Gee pledges transparency via African Talent Pool
The singer said she has put measures in place with her African talent show to ensure her talent doesn't become another Mohbad in the industry.
She submitted:
"I am doing an African talent show under Muma Gee’s foundation that has existed for over 25 years, and I will not want to run down the reputation I have built over the years. Building a reputation is difficult; when you do, you don’t want to spoil it. At African Talent Pool, we will be as transparent as possible and accountable; hence we don’t return to the status quo."
