"We were never told to take breastmilk" - Nursing mother
During a brief chat with Legit.ng, a nursing mother identified as Doyin Popoola, maintained that breastmilk isn't as nutritional to adults as babies who really need then.
Popoola said during her ante-natal visits, the matrons and other healthcare specialists never highlighted the importance of mothers consuming their own breastmilk.
"It is only beneficial for the babies and it's advisable to feed them for up two years after giving them exclusively for six months. I'm in a paediatrician group where fellow nursing mothers often mention how their husbands want to also consume breastmilk. Doctors would always say it isn't beneficial to them but also not harmful."
Personally, the nursing mum admitted that she once tasted it and likened the taste to unsweetened pap.
"I tasted it and it felt like warm pap water. I couldn't take it for so long, the babies are really trying."
