64th Grammy Award: Father and Son, Femi, Made Kuti, Other Big Naija Singers Who Made Nomination List

Nigerian artistes continue to shine the spotlight on the country through their excellent work. Amazingly, they are being recognised beyond the shores of their fatherland.

On Tuesday, November 23, the list of artistes nominated for the prestigious Grammy Awards was published and it got many Nigerians excited as names of their favourite musicians were spotted.

Amazingly, five big Nigerian artistes were nominated for the Grammy Awards ceremony that will take place on Monday, January 31, 2022.

In this article, Legit.ng lists the musicians that made the nomination list.

1. Femi and Made Kuti

Father and son, Femi and Made Kuti made the prestigious list as their album Legacy was nominated for the best global music album. Meanwhile, Femi Kuti's Pa Pa Pa also made the best global performance list.

This current nomination has made it the sixth time that Femi Kuti's name has been listed while it is Made's debut.

2. Burna Boy

The Ye crooner's name appeared under the best global music performance category for his collaboration with Angelique Kidjo's Do Yourself.

3. Wizkid and Tems

The year 2021 seems to be Wizkid's year as the singer's career took a higher leap. From bagging multiple awards to being nominated for two categories at the 2022 Grammy, Wizkid is definitely nobody's mate.

The Ojuelegba crooner's song Essence featuring singer Tems was nominated for best global performance. His Made in Lagos Deluxe Edition was also nominated under the best global music album.

Meanwhile, collaborating with Wizkid on Essence also qualified singer Tems as a nominee.

As expected, Nigerians expressed excitement for their favourite musicians while noting that they are rooting for them.

Wizkid wins three AFRIMA awards

Wizkid bagged three awards at the eighth edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

The singer beat others to emerge as the artiste of the year. His music, Essence, featuring Tems, won song of the year and best African collaboration.

Wizkid's music producer also bagged an award, to the joy of his fans.
