If you have followed the Nigerian entertainment scene long enough, then you must have heard about at least one of the shows put together by Flytime Promotions. If anything, everyone knows their flagship concert, Rhythm Unplugged which is the longest-running and most anticipated show in Nigeria.

Flytime Music Festival

After a one year break, Flytime Music Festival came back with a bang - a 4-day festival with the biggest stars in and outside the country including Wizkid, Davido, Tion Wayne, Lancey Foux and Ne-Yo. Lagos never had it this good.

Wizkid's year in review

After dropping an incredibly successful "Made in Lagos" album in late 2020, there was already enough indication of what Wizkid's year was going to look like. The album which has been in conversations long before it was released earned several nominations across different awards in Africa and worldwide, including two nods for the 64th annual Grammy Awards to be held by 31st of January 2022.

Conquering the music world

Fans of Afrobeats were on the hunt for an opportunity to catch ‘Starboy’ perform live. Big Wiz, as he is recently known, started with the United States with sold-out concerts in major US cities. The fans in the UK showed their enthusiasm by mopping up the tickets within seconds of opening sales. Some got their wishes fulfilled while the others had to wait still, this is either due to sold-out tickets or location.

A long overdue Lagos concert after a successful Made in Lagos tour

A concert in Lagos was long overdue, it had been two years since Wizkid headlined a show in Lagos city. Considering what it takes to set up and execute a successful show in Lagos, only a few hands were capable of successfully organizing one, Flytime is one of such. A couple of months back, Wizkid himself promised a concert in Lagos and since then, the expectations of the fans had been further heightened in anticipation of a Wizkid Live concert in Lagos - where it all began.

Starboy Live at Eko Convention Centre

The Starboy Live concert marked the opening of the 4-day Flytime Music Festival, the most anticipated entertainment event of the year. Starboy was received with a vibrating ovation on literally landing on stage. The sensation, an indescribable one, was taken to another level when Wizkid brought on stage, a close friend and legend in the Nigerian music scene, Wande Coal. He also had with him on stage, one of the biggest music acts of the moment, Buju.

The crowd sang every song word for word and with a passion too while Wizkid himself was left in awe of the love he still has here. Although he may conquer the music world, Lagos is still the base and the love is ever-present.

The concert which lasted for over three hours finally came to an end and there is no doubting the fact that the fans had an unforgettable time with the Starboy.

Last words

The 2021 December was indeed a memorable one for entertainment enthusiasts, thanks largely to Flytime. Such a December was needed, considering the fact that music concerts could not hold the previous December due to COVID-19. December 2021 in Lagos couldn't have been better.
