School Principal Flees As Edo Students Do The Unthinkable, Strip Police Officer

  • Students in Edo state have done the unthinkable by stripping a police officer during an altercation in their school
  • The students who went berserk also destroyed the principal's office and set a section of the school facility on fire
  • According to the sources, the principal of the school flee from the school premises when it became obvious that the students could not be controlled

There was confusion at the Idogbo Secondary School in Ikpoba-Okha local government area after some students vandalised the office of the principal.

The Punch reports that on Friday, December 3, the students numbering about 49 were said to have vandalised the principal's office and burnt a section of the school.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Edo state Police command, Bello Kontongs, said the students have already been arrested by the police.

Witnesses to the incident said the students became violent and started throwing explosives after the school authorities had invited security officials to join in the monitoring of the examination process.

According to the witness, during examinations, security personnel are invited to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order among students of the school.

However, this particular examination, the witness said took a different turn after the students became violent attacking the principal and the police officers.

The witness said trouble started when the one of the students had an altercation with one one of the police officers who was later stripped by the students.

The witness said:

“One of the policemen on duty was moving around the school compound. The school authority did not know what happened but we saw that the students were chasing the policeman, so some of his colleagues came to rescue him and that was when the students started throwing stones and other weapons."

“When it became uncontrollable, teachers started running for their lives, then the children went on the rampage, destroying everything on sight, policemen were called from the Police Command. But they could not control them."

PM News also reported that operatives of the State Security Services were later deployed to the school.

The witness said the operatives used gunshot to scare the students away into the bush after which some of them where arrested.

Kontongs said the arrested students would soon be charged to court by the police.

Police arrests criminal element causing havoc in northern communities

Legit.ng reported that the police had apprehended several suspected criminal elements causing havoc across northern Nigeria communities.

The suspects were fully paraded in front of journalists on Tuesday, November 30 during a press briefing by the police.

Arms, ammunition, cars and other exhibits were also paraded during the briefing conducted by CP Frank Mba.

Gunmen abduct Ondo school principal, others

Some gunmen on Thursday, November 25, invaded the Auga Community Grammar School in Ondo state, abducted the principal, Joshua Adeyemi, and his vice, Ifedayo Yesufu.

Also, three key staff of the school located along Auga-Ise Road in the Akoko northeast council area were among those abducted by the gunmen.

The three teachers who were abducted from the school are Oloyede Bukola, Adagunodo Funmilayo and Blessing Okeke.
