Baze University Convocation: 3 Nigerian Politicians Who Graduated, Courses They Studied and Their Grades
Baze University, a private varsity based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, stole the limelight with its combined 7th and 8th convocation ceremony held on Saturday, October 23.
While university convocations are usually regular academic ceremonies and barely grab the attention of the public apart from those directly involved, Baze University's stood out as at least three prominent Nigerian politicians were among the graduates.
They are Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, and Osita Chidoka.
1. Dino Melaye
Senator Dino Melaye represented Kogi West in the eighth National Assembly. He is a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Though his bid to return to the ninth Senate failed, Melaye has remained one of the prominent critics of the Muhammadu Buhari government. He also regularly attracts kudos and knocks with his fondness for flaunting his flamboyant lifestyle on social media.
On Saturday, he shared photos of himself among the graduates at the convocation ceremony on his verified Instagram.
The former senator reportedly bagged an LLB; First Degree in Law.
2. Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is currently representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate.
He is also the governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the forthcoming November 6 governorship election in Anambra state.
On his Facebook page, Senator Ubah confirmed that he "officially bagged a degree in Law (LL.B, Second Class Hons) from the Faculty of Law at the Convocation ceremony of the Prestigious Baze University, Abuja."
3. Osita Chidoka
Osita Chidoka is a strong southeast politician from Anambra state. He is a former Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of Federal Road Safety Corps and former minister of aviation.
He served under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Taking to his Facebook page on Saturday, Chidoka confirmed that he graduated with an LLB Second Class Upper from Baze University.
He said:
"Tough journey. Imagine moving from Federal Executive Council to classroom with under 20s. I wore black trousers and a white shirt daily. Made an effort to enter the class before the lecturers, submitted assignments as at due dates.
"It was humbling, but it brought order to my life. After eight years of high-octane service, from FRSC to Aviation, Baze University was therapeutic."
Dino Melaye blasts Ndume over certificate scandal
Meanwhile, Legit.ng recalls that in 2017, Senator Melaye lashed out at Senator Ali Ndume for asking the Senate to investigate allegations that he did not graduate from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU).
Melaye was at the time involved in a scandal after reports by Sahara Reporters alleged that although he attended ABU, he did not graduate.
Ndume had at the plenary on Tuesday, March 20, 2017, raised a point of order asking the Senate to investigate the allegation.
