Chinese phone maker Xiaomi launched its iconic smartphone globally on Sunday, February 26, 2023, attempting to sink its teeth into the high-end phone market and challenge Apple and Samsung.
The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro were launched in China in December 2022, but now Xiaomi is bringing the devices to the markets abroad.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 6.75-inch display and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 and Gen 2 chipset.

It also has a triple-lens camera and contains premium features like ultra-fast charging.
According to Xiaomi, the new phone's camera was co-engineered with a German firm, Leica.
The phone's price starts at N756,000.
Company faces tough year
Xiaomi has had a rough 2022 shipping its smartphones which declined by 26 per cent year-on-year, a research firm, IDC, says. The company also witnessed the most significant smartphone fall among top vendors.
The company recorded a loss in Q3, per the latest financial results.
IDC said the company shipped about 1.21 billion smartphones in 2022 due to several headwinds and a challenging economic climate in China.
Xiaomi becomes accepted outside China
Xiaomi has earned the reputation of some of the biggest smartphone makers by bringing out top-spec devices at affordable prices.
CNBC reports that the company began digging into overseas markets seven years ago by pursuing a similar strategy.
It was touted as the most prominent iPhone challenger when it launched some years ago, leading to many lawsuits from Apple.
Now, Xiaomi is seeking to take a slice of high-end value markets by pushing into overseas markets with higher margins and growing demand.

The new Nokia G22 is a typical smartphone with a 6.5-inch screen and a 50-megapixel primary camera.
But it is the phone's parts that make it unique. The phone includes a reusable plastic back which can be removed quickly to swap broken parts.
