According to a social media post, the brand reportedly spotted Maleesha during their 'Empower Young Minds campaign.

Maleesha, who aspires to be a supermodel, regularly shares her pictures with 200 Instagram followers who might have gotten instant recognition from the luxury brand.

Using the hashtag #theprincessfromtheslum, Maleesha grabbed the brand's attention, leading to national recognition.

One of her fans commented and said it was nice to finally see a dark supermodel as the face of the brand.

Viewers commend her beauty

"Glad to finally see dark skin tones being appreciated. High-time Indians stopped obsessing over fair skin. This child is wonderful, by the way. God bless her."

Another one said she hopes she is paid according to the industry price.

"I'm hoping they're paying her justifiably for her work and presence. I hope it's not one of those cases of colour-"
