BREAKING: Akpabio loses senatorial seat in Akwa Ibom

- Senator Godswill Akpabio has lost his chance of claiming a seat at the Senate in the National Assembly election held on Saturday, February 23

- Akpabio was defeated by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Christopher Stephen Ekpenyong, in the Akwa Ibom north senatorial district

- Ekpeyong scored a total of 118,215 votes to beat Senator Akpabio of APC who scored 83,158 votes

Senator Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been defeated in the race for Akwa Ibom north senatorial district.

Resident Electoral Commissioner Professor Peter Ogban revealed this in his declaration that Christopher Stephen Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the senator-elect of Akwa Ibom, Channels TV reports.

According to Ogban's declaration, Ekpeyong polled 118,215 votes to floored Akpabio who scored 83,158 votes.

Also, results for Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara federal constituency have been announced by Returning Officer Daniel Udoh as follows: Emmanuel Akpan (APC) - 22,052, Nsikak Ekong (PDP) - 29,849.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the presidential candidate of theAPC, President Muhammadu Buhari, as the official winner of the February 23 presidential election held in Lagos state.
