Ex-governor of Adamawa state Bala Ngillari gets bail

The former governor of Adamawa state Bala Ngillari has been granted bail by an Adamawa state High Court in Yola.
Ngilari was granted N1 million by Justice Nathan Musa on Thursday, September 22.
The former governor was also asked to provide one surety who must own a landed property in Yola, Adamawa state capital.
The surety, the court said must submit an affidavit of mean to the court registrar before his release.
The court further adjourned the matter to Monday, October 10, for the commencement of trial.

Ngillari was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and arraigned before the Adamawa state High Court on a 19-count charge case bordering on fraudulent award of contract worth over N167 million.

The contract, the anti-graft agency alleged was fraudulent given to El-Yadi motors limited to supply 25 units of Toyota Corolla vehicles for the Adamawa state government.
He is facing the criminal charges alongside two others – the former secretary to the Adawama state government, Ibrahim Andrew and the former commissioner for finance and budget Sanda Lamurde.
Meanwhile, an All Progressive Congress chieftain Benjamin Apugo has asked the chief judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja to order a transfer of a case against him by the EFCC.
Apugo in his petition said he had no trust in the court presently handling a land scam case against him.
