A couple of Nollywood actresses has dropped their Christian faith to follow Islam. These actresses have their various reasons for doing this and they have adopted new names. Legit.ng reveals their new names.

Moji was born to a Christian home and was the Christian way though she has a Muslim mother. She converted to Islam after suffering a few marital woes. Moji has been married twice and both marriages came to a halt. The single mother of one said that Islam gives her more power and inner calm. She adopted the name Rohimat.

2. Funke Akindele

When Funke Akindele got married to Alhaji Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede she converted to Muslim. Because Oloyede is a Muslim, a wedding Nikkai was done for Funke Akindele on May 24, 2012. She was renamed Khadijat.

Nollywood star, Vivian was born to Catholic father and a Deeper Life Mother. She married a man who was a member of the Redeemed Church but the marriage eventually failed leaving her with four children. She switched religions because at a point in time, she got confused as various Christian churches had something bad to say about one another. She adopted the name Fareedah.

Popular actress, Liz Da Silva was known to be a Christian up until the time she allegedly had a child for a yet to be named man who is a Muslim simply known as Olaoye. After the birth of her son both Lizzy and her son where christened same day. While her son was named Roheem adopted the name Aishat.

Elizabeth Anjorin popularly known as Lizzy Anjorin is a household name in Nollywood. She was brought up in a Christian family as her name implies however she found solace in Islam. In 2013, she came out to state categorically that she is a Muslim and soon after her revelation, she jetted off to Mecca for Hajj. Her case is peculiar as she said her mum was a Muslim. She had two Muslim names Sekinat and Aishat while her daughter’s Muslim name is Rufaidat.

6. Laide Bakare

Laide Bakare was Christian up until the time she left her Christian husband and started dating Alhaji Tunde Orilowo fondly referred to as ATM. Laide had to convert to Islam after marrying him and becoming another one of his wives. Laide has a gold tooth which she flaunts for all to see.

She is the latest on this list. Actress Lola Alao converted to Islam in July 2016 and many were taking by surprise. Alao was a Christian before her conversion. Alao converted during just after the burial of her father who was a Muslim before his death. She has adopted the name Rohdiat.

Actress Fathia Balogun was born into a Roman Catholic Christian home. She later adopted the Cherubim and Seraphim faith before her marriage to fellow actor Saidi Balogun when she converted to Islam and adopted the Muslim name Fathia. She holds an Islamic chietaincy title as Atesin Se Adinni.
