10 things you will find in a Nigerian's bathroom
Nigerians are an interesting set of people; it may be a bit difficult for you to understand how we operate if you are not a Nigerian yourself. There are things that are synonymous to Nigerians and these things reflect in their activities.
There is no way you will enter a Nigerian's house and not find things that would amuse you. Their sitting rooms have similar patterns when it comes to the arrangement of the chairs. You would always find calendars hung on the walls. There are certain things that you would always find in the kitchen of a typical Nigerian.

Nigerians would find it difficult to settle into a new house with an empty and clean bathroom until these things are introduced into that space. We are sure you have one of the following items in your bathroom too:
1. The bailer
This item would always be found in a Nigerian's bathroom. Even when the shower and taps are running, Nigerians would still have a bowl placed in the bucket for scooping water on their bodies.
So many Nigerians have rendered their showers useless because they are used to this bailer. It is also useful in the toilet as Nigerians use it in getting the water they would use in cleaning up.

2. This local sponge
This indigenous sponge would always be found in a typical Nigerian's bathroom as they believe it washes better than the colourful ones.
Remember it is this same sponge they use in bathing newborn babies. They would scrub hard in order to wash the baby well and prevent him from having body odour in the nearest future. Chaii.
3. Colourful sponges
It is most likely you find different colours of this sponge hung on the wall in the bathroom of a Nigerian. They would be for the different members of the family; most families in Nigeria still share a bathroom and it is important for them to have a means of identifying their sponges.
4. A cup that houses toothbrushes
Nigerians do not ever believe in letting go of the toothbrushes that are old; they would keep them in the bathroom for as long as possible.
A typical Nigerian's bathroom would always have a container in which multiple toothbrushes are kept. The old toothbrushes could be converted into hairbrushes women use in brushing the hair on the edge.
5. The toothpaste that is called Macleans
It is hard explaining to Nigerians that Macleans is just a brand of toothpaste; other brands like Close up, Dabur and Oral B are considered to be Macleans too. The same way every brand of noodles is considered to be Indomie.
Nigerians are so unique they would not let go of the empty pack of the toothpaste long after it must have finished. They would rather cut open the pack and use their toothbrushes to wipe the toothpaste inside.
6. Scrubbing brush
You would always find this object in a typical Nigerian's bathroom. How else are they supposed to clean their toilets and bathrooms if they do not make use of this object.
This object could also become your enemy when you are given a punishment that requires you to transform a black toilet to white overnight.

7. Harpic
Every Nigerian has this in the bathroom; it would be placed on the water closet. Nigerians would not let go of the container long after it must have finished.
Another thing you may have to deal with it is seeing those brown toilet bowls that can never be white again because of the years of use.
8. Drum of water
This is something you are bound to see in a typical Nigerian's bathroom. Nigerians know that they may not have water some days as this could be affected by some factors. As a result, they would always keep a drum of water in the bathroom for those days the water would not run from the tap.
9. The soap case filled with broken soaps
This list would never be complete if we do not add this item to the list of things you would find in a typical Nigerian's bathroom. Nigerians would never finish a bar of soap before putting another in the soap case. At the end of the day, you would see different broken soaps in the soap case.
10. The bars of soap you would find
If you are a Nigerian and you did not use these brands of toilet soaps, then we should ask where you have been all these years. Nigerians love using them and there is the likelihood that you would still find one or two of them in someone's bathroom.
