Storm Destroys 200 Houses In Taraba
The woes of the people of Karim Lamido local government of Taraba State have increased as rainstorm in the early hours of Sunday destroyed over 200 houses and rendered hundreds of people, especially women and children homeless.
The local government has already been inundated with floods, which have destroyed farmlands, properties and displaced hundreds of people.
The Principal Information Officer of Karim Lamido local government, Khandimo Ishaku told our correspondent on phone that the storm , which was accompanied by heavy down pour that lasted for several hours blew off roofs and pulled down walls of houses.
He said heavy gust of winds lashed out, cutting branches of trees and uprooting some others.
He however said no life was lost in the terrifying rainstorm that has caused more floods and has destroyed at least, four covets, thereby blocking roads.
He said hundreds of people are stranded and are in desperate need of shelter, adding that a greater part of Karim Lamido has been submerged by water and if the volume continues to increase, there will be serious problem for the people.
