The Nigerian society has a rich culture that pervades every sphere and core of its existence, which is why traditional wedding ceremonies in every region of the nation are a major feast any day.
Naturally, Nigerians have many dissimilarities that tend to get in the way of objectivity in most cases, but over time we have morphed into a unified whole regardless of political leanings, tribal boundaries and cultural differences and we owe most of this cohesion to a few activities like football, education and marriage.
It’s always a source of joy when two people come together as one and the feeling is eternally sweet.
Therefore it's easy to conclude today that traditional wedding ceremonies in Nigeria present the opportunity for a lot of bonding between families, friends and the society at large.
It also ensures there is a seamless cross-cultural mix among other advantages it provides. We love every part of this.
The rich colours, the traditional attires, the jiggling waist beads, the Yoruba Aso Okes and Agbadas, the Hausa Kura, Jalamia and Dansiki and then the Igbo Akwete, Isiagu, Hollandais, Dutchwax, Vlisco and whatnot all provide an eyeful that stamps a lasting impression in our senses forever as far as traditional ceremonies are concerned.
The sweet taste of palm wine and native soups and beer at these ceremonies, coupled with the music are highlights as well.
