Sultan, Catholic Archbishop In A Crucial Conference Over 2015 Election
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar and Catholic Archbishop of Abuja diocese, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, are reportedly in a crucial conference ahead the 2015 general election.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Sultan in Kaduna, a copy obtained by Leadership.

It said the conference which commenced this morning (Monday) in Abuja is aimed at brainstorming on how to ensure credible and peaceful electioneering in 2015.
The conference which is tagged: ‘Interfaith Understanding and Cooperation for Responsible Politics’ is also expected to lead a comprehensive discourse towards responsible politics in the country.
The statement noted that deliberation will hold under the auspices of Inter-faith Initiative for peace under the leadership of the Sultan and Cardinal Onaiyekan.
“The conversation that it will generate is considered apt for setting the mood of the nation as we step into the threshold of another electioneering campaign. His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan and I, as well as other members of the Interfaith Initiative for Peace, will be happy leading the conversation towards a better Nigeria” the stamen read.
The conference which is expected to end tomorrow has religious groups, academia, civil society, media and other stakeholders as participants.

It was gathered that a statement will be issued at the end of the conference, with a workable resolution adopted to ensure a peaceful election in 2015.
The two renowned religious leaders who have been very outspoken on dire issues regarding the country had on April 16, 2013, advised the Federal Government to stop covering up corrupt officials in order for the country to redeem its image.
