APC Accuses Osun Commissioner Of Police Of Bribery

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Osun state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Maishanu, of distributing huge sums of money to security personnel ahead tomorrow’s governorship election in the state.

PMNEWS reports that, the allegation was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

It said the state Commissioner of police distributing cash to police personnel and soldiers so they can work to give the PDP victory, adding that the money was distributed after addressing the police personnel and soldiers at the NYSC camp in Ede on Friday, where he allegedly revealed that his mission is to ensure PDP’s victory at the polls.

According to the party, the new commissioner of police gave each police officer present at the gathering the sum of 50,000 Naira; other ranks 30,000 Naira each and every non-commissioned soldier 45,000 Naira.

“We salute the courage and patriotism of some security agents who gave us this valuable information, and who have vowed never to do anything to subvert the country’s constitution and its democracy, whether or not they are being lured to do so with filthy lucre,” the APC said.

“The fact that there are still good men and women even in the security agencies that have become highly-partisan gives us hope that our country’s democracy will survive this unprecedented assault from those who swore an oath to uphold the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

APC went ahead to question where the police boss got the alleged money he spent on his personnel as well as his motives for doing so. The party further revealed that while the police boss was busy sharing money, Chris Uba, another hireling of the PDP, was setting down in Osogbo with the 50 troops he was given from Enugu as well as result sheets allegedly given to him to manipulate the results of the election.

Meanwhile, preparations towards the state governorship election has been so tensed as there have been several allegations and counter allegations playing for months now, with recent one coming the incumbent Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who accused Nigeria’s minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, and the Police Affairs Minister, Jelil Adesiyan, of planning to assassinate two APC members in the state.
