Heavy Downpour Sweeps Pastor Away
The pastor of a church in Ilorin, Kwara State, was swept away by an early morning downpour which lasted for about seven hours on Tuesday, August 5.
The yet to be identified pastor was said to be creating a water channel for the flood caused by the heavy downpour when he suddenly slipped into a drainage and got swept away, Daily Sun reports.
Unfortunately, he drowned in the erosion and died before help could reach him.
According to residents in the area, any day there was heavy downpour, the Man of God usually volunteer to create water channels to reduce the erosion.

The rain, which started at about 3am and lasted till 10am, reportedly hindered many people from going about their daily routine.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, said the identity of the pastor could not be ascertained as at the time it was evacuated.

He said the remains of the deceased has been deposited at University of Ilorin (UITH) morgue.
