Monarch Loses Five Family Members In Sokoto

Reports just coming in indicate that five members of the family of Alhaji Shehu Umar, District Head of Dogon Daji in Tambuwal local government area in Sokoto, lost their lives in a road accident that happened on Saturday, 02 August, 2014 on Shagari-Tureta road in Sokoto state.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reported that the deceased included the son of the district head, his daughter, two grand children and his 74-year-old younger sister.

It was gathered that all the victims were traveling from Dogon Daji to Abuja on a condolence ‎visit when their vehicle collided with a petroleum tanker.

While commenting on the tragic incident, the bereaved monarch described the accident as ‘an act of God’.

Meanwhile, the Spokesman of the state Police command, DSP Al-Mustapha Sani has confirmed the accident.

It would be recalled that former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, also recently lost his son, Hamza El-Rufai, in a car crash.

While announcing the tragic incident on 29 July, 2014, a deeply saddened Nasir wrote on his official Facebook account: “From Allah we came and to Him we shall return. Please join our family in praying for the repose of the soul of my son Hamza El-Rufai who died this morning in a motor accident in Abuja.”
