According to the Lagos State Ministry of Health commissioner, Mr. Jide Idris made the reason for the ministry visit known to the congregation of the church saying that the state is aware that the church has the highest number of worshippers who are foreigners, hence the need to alert the faithfuls and even the overseer on the menace the deadly virus can cause.

Punch reports that the visit to the SCOAN is one of the plans the Lagos state government has to combat the inflow of the deadly disease into the country. Idris also made it known that most of the foreigners that worship at the SCOAN are majorly from countries of the West African sub-Region, which had already been infected by the Ebola disease.

However, the Synagogue leader, Prophet Temitope Joshua, who is also the general overseer of the SCOAN, pledged his loyalty to the state government, making known his intentions to join the government in combating the deadly disease.

Assuring the ministry of health of his decision to work with the government, he promised to rather visit any of the countries instead of allowing them troupe into Nigeria, putting the whole nation at risk of the Ebola virus. He also promised to suspend some of his major Church healing programmes for a few weeks adding:

"I am ready to work with you. I love my country and I will be ready to work with you. Even if it is a rumour, there is need to secure our environment to ensure that it is safe."

It would be recalled that just recently, a popular Nollywood actor Jim Iyke recently fled Liberia without having been tested for Ebola.
