900 SSS Official Storm Osun Ahead Governorship Election
Fully armed operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) have reportedly stormed Osun State ahead its August 9, governorship election.
According to Nigerian Tribune, the security operatives numbering about 900 reportedly were arriving Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It was gathered that the deployment of the heavily-armed officials was geared towards ensuring tight security in order to have a hitch-free conduct of the election.
It was reported that the security operatives were sighted in Toyota Hiace buses and Toyota Hilux vans, on Tuesday, patrolling Osogbo. A source in Abuja said they were also expected to patrol other major towns within the state in the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, some of the DSS officials were also sighted on Wednesday gathered in front of their headquarters at Gbongan-Ibadan expressway.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “This is part of the preparation to ensure efficient security of lives and property before, during and after the conduct of the crucial election.”

“No stone would be left unturned to protect the electorate, including the generality of the people of Osun State, irrespective of political groupings, ethnic and religious colorations. The DSS officials you see would work in collaboration with other security agencies in ensuring a peaceful and violent-free election on August 9,” the source added.
It would be recalled that on June 22, 2014, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, promised to re-enact Ekiti security success story in other future elections, and urged Nigerians, especially residents of Osun state, to ensure a hitch-free election.
