Jonathan Launches New 64 Page E-Passport (PHOTOS)
President Goodluck Jonathan, today, July 30, officially launched Nigeria's new 64-page e-passport, while also telling Nigerians to respect the nation's image and shun uncomplimentary statements and actions.
With the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja soon to start, the president and his vice, Namadi Sambo, were on hand to launch the document.
They both then took some time off to take passport pictures in order to be given the new and extensive document.
The president then later explained that the document had to be increased from 32 to 64 to cater for the frequent travellers, who have to always ask for a new one after a month due to the limited amount of pages.
He then asked the Nigeria Immigration Service to make sure that the passport integrity is maintained and ensure that fake copies won't be made by criminals.
The president also asked the nation's airport workers to conduct themselves with dignity and not disrespect the image of the nation in front of visitors.
The new passport, which takes effect from August 1, attracts a fee of N20,000.
