Gunmen Attack Community In Bayelsa
Gunmen, suspected to be sea pirates, on Tuesday attacked Ondewari community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to Tribune, the sea pirates, who were armed with sophisticated rifles, carted away two 75 horsepower speedboats after robbing residents of their valuables.

It was gathered that the activities of the sea pirates have remained unchecked in Bayelsa waterways as they have been destroying, killing, and robbing passengers boats.
According to a witness, the pirates stormed the community at about 10.30pm and started shooting sporadically, while residents scamper for safety.
The witness further stated that the speed boat that was carted away by the assailants was abandoned by the owner who jumped into the ocean upon sighting the pirates who were coming towards his direction.

DSP Alex Akhigbe, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), when contacted said the command was yet to be briefed about the attack. The PPRO promised that the command was going to contact the officers stationed in the area.
