Meet Cyclops Baby Sheep Born With One Eye

Meet Cyclops Baby Sheep Born With One Eye

Meet a mutant lamb that was born with only one eye and shocked all the farmers in the area in Turkey.

Initially footage of one-eyed baby sheep emerged on Youtube and is now making rounds on the Internet. The details concerning the birth of the so-called cyclops lamb are sketchy, all that is known is that the lamb was born at a farm in Turkey.

The video shows a man, presumably the farmer, holding the unusual creature in his arms, then he puts the one-eyed lamb on the ground, and encourages it to take a few steps on its own. Unfortunately, the baby sheep is not strong enough to stand on its own feet, and falls on one side.

Eventually, the farmer takes pity on the animal, and helps it stand by supporting its body with both his hands. This makes it possible for the person holding the camera to take a close-up of the strange creature and its even stranger one eye.

Of course, the footage ended up sparking quite a lot of controversy almost immediately after having posted online. Some viewers believe the footage is genuine. Those less trusting, on the other hand, believe it to be a hoax.

Cyclopamine is a naturally occurring chemical isolated from the corn lily (Veratrum californicum) that causes usually fatal birth defects. Cyclopamine was named for one-eyed lambs which were born to sheep which grazed on wild corn lily at a farm in Idaho, the USA.
