Man Trapped In Freezer For 4 Days Narrates How He Survived

A fish factory employee who was trapped in the freezer narrated how he managed to keep himself alive for more than 4 days before having been rescued.

Mai Thanh Sang explained that he and his colleagues were cleaning the storeroom, when the shelving units had occasionally collapsed, leaving him under bags of fish fillets, Metro reports.

With the temperature -22C, the 23-year-old was scared he would die. The man confessed that it was only the thoughts about his family which helped him to survive.

The Vietnamese spent 103 hours in the freezer, all this time Sang's co-workers were trying to find him and finally succeeded.

Although the corageous man suffered from the worst case of frostbite doctors at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, had ever seen, he stayed alive. After having partially recovered, he said in the interview:

"I was crushed by ice. I was trying to scream but it did not make sense. I felt terribly hungry and knew I was getting frostbite. At first, I thought I would die but I quickly regained hope. My motivation to stay alive came from thoughts of my wife and my baby. I held on by licking the ice. But I was becoming more and more exhausted."

When Dr Tran Doan Dao was asked how it was possible that the man had survived such low temperatures, he said it was only due to the fact that Sang was wearing four coats and a protective hat.
