How Kano Police Averted Bombing Of Isiayaku Rabiu Mosque

Kano police narrated how they had averted the major attack in Kano mosque planned to be launched on Sunday, July 27.

While the tragedy at the premises of St.Charles Catholic Church in Sabon Gari area could not be prevented, with 6 people killed, including a suicide bomber, the police managed to stop another wave of killings on the same day.

PM News refers to the State Police Commissioner Adenrele Shinaba, who said that upon having been alerted they discovered a white Peugeot 406 with explosives. The auto was reportedly abandoned near Isiayaku Rabiu Mosque on Saturday and was programmed to detonate on Sunday during a prayer service.

Shinaba commended the residents who were vigilant and reported the case to the police and added:

"On receipt of the information, our men led by the EOD personnel were mobilized to the scene and discovered the said vehicle was loaded with IEDs primed to be detonated during today’s Eid Fitr’s Prayers. We immediately disconnected and dislodge the EIDs safely without causing any injury or damage."

The official vowed to do everything possible to continue fight against terrorist and criminality in the country and in the state.

It would be recalled that a suspected suicide bomber, allegedly 16 years of age, and 5 more people died in a yesterday's attack on the church. Three people were arrested in connection with the carried out bombing and 2 people in connection with the averted attack on the mosque. All the detained suspected are currently under interrogation.

Only two days ago Sabon Gari was rocked by another ghastly explosion, which according to various sources claimed from 1 to 5 lives. The attack targeted passengers of the bus heading to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
