Bomb Explosion At Catholic Church Kills 5 In Kano
Five people were killed in bomb explosion at the premises of St. Charles Catholic Church on Zungeru Road in Sabon Gari area of Kano.
According to SaharaReporters, shortly after the church service today, July 27, a bomb was thrown into the premises of the church.
Nigeria Police public relations officer, Frank Mba, confirmed the attack, saying that 5 people were killed, including a soldier guarding the premises of the church.
According to Frank Mba, police operatives have arrested five male suspects for their complicity in the attacks.
Two were arrested in connection with the foiled bomb attack at Isyaku Rabiu Mosque, while three were arrested in connection with the attack at St Charles Church. All the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation.
As the Nation reports, four of the dead persons, included the husband, identified as Ugochukwu Okoli, 32, wife, father and maid were among the victims, who had gone to the church for thanksgiving.
About 16 people were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries, while three suspects, including a cripple, were arrested by security agents.
The bombing of the church today is the third bombing incident in Kano. Two previous attempts on a Mosque and a university were thwarted by the police in the city.
