Nyako Left N12.8bn Debt - Adamawa Acting Gov Says
Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, the Acting Governor of Adamawa State, has said that the administration of ex-governor Murtala Nyako left behind a massive debt of about N12.8bn without any infrastructure to show for it.
This was revealed by Fintiri when former members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, led by Ambassador James Barka, paid him a congratulatory visit at the Government House, Yola.
According to Punch report, Fintiri explained that the removal of Nyako's administration was simply democracy in action and it was done to save the state.
The acting governor promised to lay a solid foundation for the administration coming after the transition period to build upon.
"With the support I’m getting from the people of Adamawa State as well as the People’s Democratic Party in Adamawa and the Federal Government, and with God on my side, within the 90 days transitional period, citizens will feel the impact of government more than in the last seven years," he said.

Fintiri, who expressed joy over the visit of his colleagues, assured them that justice, equity and fair-play will be his focus, and he will treat people equally irrespective of tribe or religion.
Giving his speech, the leader of the delegation, Ambassador James Barka, described Fintiri as a detribalised, non-religious person and promised him their support.
Fintiri was sworn in as Acting Governor following the removal of Gov. Murtala Nyako from office and the last-minute resignation of his deputy James Bala Ngilari, who were both faced with impeachment over misappropriation of funds.
Before his appointment as the acting governor, he was the Speaker of the Adamawa state House of Assembly.
He would be in charge for 3 months, until a new governor is elected.
