NDLEA Arrest Graduate With Narcotics At Lagos Airport
Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) attached to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday arrested one Victor Ifeanacho, with methamphetamine weighing 2.185 kilogrammes.
Hamza Umar, the agency’s MMIA Commander said the suspect was arrested during a routine check of passengers on board an Ethiopian Airline en route to Malaysia.

He disclosed that the suspect, who resides in the Badagry area of Lagos, was promised $3,500 by the owner upon delivery in Malaysia.
“We have arrested one Victor Ifeanacho. We found parcels of substances that tested positive for methamphetamine inside his bag. The drug weighed 2.185kg. The case is still under investigation,” Umar said.
According to Punch, the suspect who hails from Enugu State said he is a graduate of Business Administration, adding that years of unemployment forced him to indulge in the illicit act.
“I am a graduate of Business Administration. I have been jobless since I graduated in 2008. After several years of joblessness, I became a commercial bus driver in Lagos. I am single and live in Badagry. A man I met at a hotel promised to assist me in getting a job in Malaysia. I was happy to travel out of the country. Out of frustration, I agreed to smuggle the drugs, which eventually led to my arrest. They promised to pay me $3,500, but I regret everything now because I feel empty inside,” Ifeanacho said.

Reacting to the arrest, the NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, expressed disappointment that a learned person who knew the dangers of drug trafficking could allow himself to fall prey.
“It is very disappointing for a university graduate who knows the implication of his action to get involved in drug trafficking. He was taking the drug to Malaysia where he would have been executed if caught with narcotics. I am happy with the arrest,” Giade said.
