Obiageli Ezekwesili Detained And Later Released By SSS

Coordinator of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign and former Education Minister Obiageli Ezekwesili was today morning detained and soon released by security operatives.

According to the official's Twitter page, she was arrested by the SSS at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as she was on her way to London.

Ezekwesili informed she was heading for BBC Hardtalk programme just to have her travelling documents ceased.

However, half an hour later the ex-minister tweeted she had been returned her passport, adding she had barely made it for her flight.

It would be recalled that Ezekwesili was involved in a recent scandal surrounding the called off meeting of parents of Chibok girls, abducted by Boko Haram members more than 3 months ago, with President Goodluck Jonathan.

The rescue campaign convener, who is also famous for putting pressure on the Nigerian government for it to take effective measures aimed at bringing back the girls, was accused by the country leader of stopping the meeting.

Jonathan put responsibility on Ezekwesili for parents cancelling the scheduled meeting. However, it was later revealed that the President's guests had received the invitation letter later than expected and had been unaware of the planned meeting. While the encounter was re-scheduled for tomorrow, July 22, the ex-minister launched another wave of criticism on Jonathan over him trying to tarnish the #BringBackOurGirls campaign image
