Boko Haram Murder More Than 100 In Borno, Hoist Flags

Insurgent group Boko Haram had yesterday attacked a town Borno state, killing more than 100 people and hoisting their black and white flags over the area.

This new information was confirmed by a civil defense spokesman and a human rights advocate, Abbas Gava, who also revealed that the affected town is located just 85 kilometers (53 miles) from the states' capital, Maiduguri.

Mr. Gava also said that in another town, named Askira Uba, and nine more settlements, citizens are fleeing after they got letters of an imminent attack by the terrorist group.

Survivors revealed that the terrorists came into the town, fired rocket-propelled grenades and lobbed homemade bombs into homes. Then the gunmen started shooting them down, as residents tried to run for their lives.

The lucky survivors narrated that almost the entire town is now in ashes, and they are just trying to bury the dead.

The town had been bombarded by Boko Haram for the past two weeks after they dislodged soldiers from a new tank battalion camp on its outskirts.

The Defence Headquarters had earlier reported that they came out victorious with minimal loss, but residents denied the claim, saying that it was a lie and that the soldiers had run away and left their base.

The residents said that twice now, Boko Haram insurgents had ambushed military convoys trying to get back the base and had cut off the town from the south on Monday, when they blew up a bridge further south.
